The Livid Thorn story began in 2006 and involves two girls with huge dreams. The story is incomplete because it will continually write itself with an unknown outcome. The only thing we can be certain of is that the story will become more and more exciting, involving more cupcakes, more rainbows, and more purple dinosaurs.
One cold, dreary and wet day in the otherwise beautiful UK city of Manchester. Two young girls Nat and Cez embarked upon an epic quest to find some truly unique clothing and accessories. Much to their discontent, they returned frustrated and unsuccessful with their mission. Instead of becoming disheartened like anyone else would, they began to put pen to paper, and like when a seed gets planted, it all started to grow.
The first designs were completed, the first garments printed. Livid Thorn was born.
The first designs immediately attracted the attention of a multitude of people (now commonly referred to as livid kids) and sold out extremely quickly. To keep up with the demand, designs had to be created with greater and greater regularity; Cez and Nat no longer had time to do anything else! The designs were not something to be rushed as one of Livid Thorn's strictest rules is that each design should be created first by hand. Each design is lovingly illustrated with great attention until perfect. Livid Kids are the only reason Livid Thorn operates; so an overwhelming amount of consideration, hot drinks and late nights are necessary to ensure they are completely unique from anything else ever created before.
Over the years Livid Thorn has evolved and changed, but with this it has gained more loyal and amazing followers. That cold dreary day in the bustling city of Manchester had changed from something monotonous and boring to something far brighter, far more exciting, and more importantly, more diverse.
Conforming to stereotypes is something that Livid Thorn is very much against, because it is their belief that each person is truly individual. This means that the designs are for a variety of ranges so that every person is catered for and can feel as unique as they truly are. In late 2008 the frowning clouds of the Manchester skies parted, revealing great golden diamonds with magnificent blue wings, and amorous pink swallows locked in a romantic embrace. The neckwear range was born and to this day continues to grow, soaring the skies and surpassing the great boundaries of the blue skies above.
Like a plant needs the sun, Livid Thorn needs music. Inspired by a multiplicity of genres and styles it is the music culture that helps Livid Thorn continue to grow. Taking influence from the electro and screamo scenes in particular, the brand has been enabled to fuse together tattoo inspired illustrations and spontaneous colourful compositions, creating something for everyone.
Now, the girls work from early morning through to the early hours, ensuring fresh new designs and fast, friendly service. They hope to continue on their mission from that rainy Manchester day. 2009 is already proving to be the biggest year yet for the brand and Nat and Cez have a lot of exciting surprises in store.
